Doug Whitley will be with us for both the early and regular Sunday services on Palm Sunday, March 20, sharing the timeless truths of Scripture while portraying famous preachers from the past.
During the early service he will be portraying James, the brother of John and telling “The Last Discourse of Christ.” The presentation is from John 14-17. James gives his perspective on Jesus’ last message before the Crucifixion and the impact it has for us today as Jesus shared all the promises for his present disciples with us. We are a part of the legacy of followers that Jesus knew would come to believe in Him.
During the regular rervice Doug will be in character as C.H. Spurgeon sharing one of his Palm Sunday sermons preached in the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England.
Doug grew up in eastern North Carolina. At the age of four he came in childlike faith to Jesus Christ. He dedicated his life to Christ while on a church camp-out at the age of eleven. Doug’s experience with Christian drama began in high school when he traveled for three years with a Christian drama team. It was during this time that the impact of drama became evident in its ability to reach souls and change hearts as he witnessed its effect on congregations. Doug holds a B.A. in speech and a M.A. in dramatic production. He has appeared in three Christian films, various TV and radio programs and his acting credits include Shakespearean roles as well as Biblical roles. He is also the author of eight Christian plays and has co-authored an Easter Cantata.
In adition to our Palm Sunday services, Doug will be with us for VBS (March 21-25) sharing the Gospel through dramatic presentations.
